Les fêtes de fin d'année te ramènent inévitablement vers ta famille au sens large du terme. Quoi qu'il arrive, tu peux difficilement éviter le repas familial, réunissant oncles que tu n'as pas vu depuis Noël dernier, cousins auxquels tu parles uniquement parce qu'un peu de ton sang coule dans leurs veines, grands-parents à qui tu essaies vainement d'expliquer ce que tu fais dans la vie ("je travaille dans une maison-de-disques" -"ah, tu es une vendeuse de disques alors?") et autres convives toutes aussi sympathiques.
Le repas est généralement constitué d'une succession infinie de plats lourds et gras, qui n'ont d'autre dessein que de te "péter le ventre" (désolée, mais y'a pas de mots). En général, ce sont exactement les mêmes plats qui se succèdent, et déjà, après les entrées, tu n'en peux plus. Heureusement, le bon vin rouge qui tâche est là pour faire passer ce moment douloureux de ton existence.
Biensûr, ce qui te fait tenir, c'est de regarder les aiguilles de l'horloge qui s'approchent seconde par seconde du moment fatidique, l'heure des cadeaux. De temps à autre, tu pars dans la salle de bain, travailler l'expressivité de ton visage : la surprise "oh merci fallait pas", l'attitude "je cache ma déception par un sourire radieux", le mensonge "j'adore, vraiment!". A 22 ans, tu regrettes de ne plus pouvoir faire de liste pour le Père Noël. A 12 ans, au moins, tu étais sûre d'avoir ce que tu avais demandé ! Ce n'est pas parce que tu as 10 ans de plus que tes parents te connaissent mieux. Comment le pourraient-ils ? Tu ne vis plus chez eux !
